it is my first time since i was abandoned by my seminary life that i wrote in this blog of mine. now i have a life with the posible problems that may occur in man’s life. i am always in depressed but manage to face all that depression in such a phenomenal way. i dont know why should i really be in this way of living. i am living as if this life would end by tomorrow. in that sense i live my life everyday as if it would be my last day. i sadly had no hope for a good tomorrow. it would be still the same again. i am just continue living as if living is a such thing that controls me. as if i need to live that is why i live. then sometimes i asked myself of the essence of my life. how should i face everything that comes my way. one thing more is that, i have this relationship with a woman who doesnt have any care of what i really feel. she only thinks of herself. just having me around if she needed me. and on my part, following all the stuff that she command to me. im am fooling my self out in the name of love. how my life would be,, i love my sweetheart,, she is all the happiness that i have but then i feel like im just nothing for her. but then i love her so much…

Approaching Technology in Harmony to the Will of God (THE RAPID DEVELOPMENT)

The apostolic letter entitled The Rapid development of Pope John Paul II is telling us to utilize all the gadgets of technology in mass communication as a means to proclaim the message of God through out the whole world. The challenge for us today is for us to use the modern means of communication to proclaim the message of redemption to all mankind. We, in the present situation of the society with all its gadgets of modern technology must be able to utilize gadgets of technology in the evangelical mission of the church. Being a believer of God we should be thankful for the intelligence that God had given to man. Modern technology is the product of the intelligence of man that should be regarded as something good and must be use for the good of man himself. Pope John Paul II in his apostolic letter is trying to extend his message concerning our approach to the emerging technology in our present time. We all know that technology had its positive and negative effects. The technology of mass media offers mankind to a very wide horizon of kinds of the media that it offered. In the present use of mass media, man has all his freedom on how to use the mass media. The mass media offers mankind different kinds of information that enables man to choose what kind of information he had to be aware with. In that sense, the Holy mother Church is inviting us to use mass media for the development of moral values, and to spread the good news of God. We should give thanks to God for giving us this present powerful means of mass media. We must not be afraid of using the elements of mass media. Rather, we should embrace the development of the mass media because it is a gift from God. In fact, there are many religious congregations that have the charism to utilize the mass media in their apostolate. Lastly, I would like to quote the words of Pope John Paul II that says: “Do not be afraid”. We must approach technology as a gift of God in order for us to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus to the ends of the World.

Internet as a Means to do Good (The Church and Internet)

One of the greatest products of technology nowadays is the internet. In its constant progress technology had generated the gadgets for communication. Its progress for a better and easier way of communicating had developed to a thing called internet. In the present internet becomes the fastest way of transporting messages and other sorts of communication through computers which are connected to the World Wide Web.

This phenomenon of the usage of internet as a means of communication is a very important matter for the concern of the Catholic Church. We all know that internet is a fruit of the advancement of man by using his capabilities and intellect to generate something for his own benefit. On the part of the Catholic Church, we must be aware that there are morals that should be observed upon using the internet. We all know that the product of technology is amoral by which they do not have morality to follow. It is on our part that we should be guided upon using the gadgets of technology, and now as latest is the internet.

In the article of the church entitled: The Church and Internet, the holy mother church is extending her message and reminders for us people of God to be aware on how we use the internet.

The usage of the internet is very helpful to us on making the way of communication easier. Internet provides us an easy access to the world in general. We can gain so many ideas in the internet. We can be easily be updated through the use of internet. On the other hand, there are things that existed in the internet that is not in accordance to the will of God. Upon using the internet, the church is telling us to be aware of what kind of website are we entering to. To be morally upright in the eyes of God we should be able to establish ourselves as a moral man.

To be Morally aware in Advertising (Ethics in Advertising)

Advertising through the use of the present media is in utility in our present society. The church concern in this situation is about the ethics that must be present in advertising. Nowadays, advertising is employed in many aspects such as in the products, in politics and in other aspects which demands for the agent of advertising. Advertising shows the culture of a society in which it enables to unveil the culture of the present society. Advertising does not imply to be neither good nor evil, it simply show and expose the thing that it promotes to persuade its audience.

In the article Ethics in Advertising, the church is instructing us to be aware of the morals that must be present in advertising. The Church is instructing us to promote values in advertising, not only the products that is being advertised rather, it must also have good values to promote. We are aware of the fact that advertising is very influential in our society. People in every state of life encountered advertising in their everyday activities.

The Church had seen the positive benefits of advertising as it informed the consumers to be intelligent enough on the material products that they are buying. Advertising enables man to be well oriented in making decision in a political context that is to be able to know what kind of politics they are in. advertising is able to present the situation of our society. It also provides freedom of choice in a political set up. Regarding the benefits of advertising for the church, advertising can also communicate the message of faith that would benefit to people in advantageous way.

On the other hand, advertising is also harm for people because advertising is utilized without a proper orientation and proper implementation of morality in advertising. Advertising in our present situation exploits the dignity of a person. Exploitation to the dignity of a person happens in advertising because the proper authority did neglect its duty to look over the thing that is advertised. To contextualize some present phenomenon, the dignity of a woman is hampered in such a way that woman is seductively used in advertising a liquor product.

The church is extending his concern towards advertising that it must have a moral message rather than exploitation. The church is inviting the people in authority to screen strictly the scenes in advertising that it should promote a moral message in order to promote good values in society.

“A guide to regain our morality through proper education” (100 Years of Cinema)

The encyclical letter of the church entitle 100 years of cinema tell us that we should be aware of the kind of the media that we are watching. This is a sort of a reminder to all educators especially the parents to be aware to the kind of media that their child is watching. We all know that in our present situation, the technology of the mass media offers us various types of scenes which of sometimes immoral and not suited to the individual who is watching.

Being an educator we have a special role in our present situation today. We should educate our students and guide them properly on how to use the technology of mass media in order for them to be educated to use the mass media in the right way that would give them knowledge and morality in accordance to God’s will. To the parents, they should follow up their children on the kind of media that they are watching. They should explain every scene that their child watch for it is important for the child to be guided. Because sometimes children are influence by what they view even though they did not know that it is already immoral.

The document of the church “100 Years of Cinema” gives us the guidelines on how to educate our students in such a way that they will be guided in a proper morality. Our present situation of too much immorality in the technology of mass media is inviting us to stand before the church morals in order to regain the Christian morality that the church is expanding to us.

The utilization of modern technology (Aetatis Novae)

There are many documents that the church had posted about the media of social communication. But in spite of that, that church is not bringing to an end the issue about the proper use of the media of mass communication. It is because that the technology of the media of social communication is also developing through the course of time. In that sense, the church will also be aware of the fact that we should keep an eye to guard the morals on how to use the media of social communication. We must face the fact that the technological progress is still on going in the course of time, and we must not take it for granted to preserve the moral of our society.

After two decades since the publication of the communion et progressio the church had written another document as a pastoral instruction to the people of God. The “Aetatis Novae” is written in order for us to refresh our mind on what has been given priority in the communion et progressio regarding the relation of the church to the mass media. In this document of the church the student writer will give his attention to the significance of the need for a kind dialogue between the church and the modern world. This dialogue would be a good means to produce a mutual effect between the church and the technology of social communication. If the morals of the church should be a guide to the modern means of communication, the immoral use of those things will vanish. It will also guide those who manipulate the gadgets of communication to work in such a moral way. On the other hand it is also important to give an attention to the studies of Anthropology and Theology of Communication that would help to evangelize the people. In this manner the church is giving her attention to the modern means of communication in order to guide this aspect of modernity in a moral way. The church is giving its relevance to the modern society in order to preserve the teachings of Christ.

In this document, the student writer is giving his point of view about the Aetatis Novae in which the church is still using the means of social communication for her pastoral mission.

My Opinion About Pornography

We all know that pornography is now spreading widely to all kinds of individual. The danger that is brought by pornography can deeply affect the individual and the society in general. Concerning this kind of problem, the mass media is a primary concern because it is the one who has a major influence to the society. Nowadays, internet is the greatest source of these pornographic materials and violence of every kind. We all know that almost everybody have the access of the internet thus they are exposed to these kinds of evils. We cannot cure this kind of sickness in our society if we will tolerate this matter. As a Catholic Christian, the church has a written document concerning this kind of evil. In the “Pornography and Violence in the communications media: A pastoral response”, published in May 7, 1989, the church extended their concern to the problem concerning pornography. For me pornography is totally evil in itself. In pornography the act of love in which it must be sacred act for the husband and wife becomes a public viewing of those individual who spread this kind of immorality. Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit; we must preserve our body in such a way that we should not use it as an object of temptation. On the other hand, being a follower of Christ, we should not allow ourselves to fall into these temptations of patronizing pornography.

In pornography all kinds of evil in flesh follows. What good does this pornography promotes? For those individual who gained money through pornography, you have gained money but you let your brother fall into sin and you should be blamed for that. In the same way those instruments of media that promotes pornography is liable for being an instrument of the devil.

Now, being a responsible follower of Christ, we must not let pornography enter in our life. For the parents, we should guide our children in any kind of show that they watch. We must explain the entire scene that they have viewed. For being an educator, we must teach our students the Christian morality that we have. We guide them and teach them to value the morality that we have, despite of the challenge of the society. For being a youth should also be responsible for our own action. Despite of all the curiosity we have, we should be always reminded that any kind of pornography is a work of the devil. We should have the conviction not to allow ourselves to fall into the den of pornography, even the peer pressure will tempt us we can resist if we have this conviction.
